West Midlands mayor applauds underfloor heated electric trains

A brand-new era is planned for rail passengers travelling in the West Midlands, after a brand-new fleet of innovative electric trains was recently revealed by West Midlands Railway.

The advanced trains, which feature luxury underfloor heating onboard, are now entering services in the area, taking passengers to and from local stations in Walsall, Birmingham and Wolverhampton.

To mark the occasion and showcase the fleet’s capabilities, a special event was held, attended by West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, who commented:

“It’s good news that we’re seeing this £700million investment by West Midlands Trains continuing as we work together to make our rail network fit for the future. These new trains will make a real difference to passengers right across our region, boosting capacity on some of our busiest routes.”

The expert design of the new trains has enabled the fleet to offer a wide range of passenger benefits, including accessible toilets and increased personals space, but also advanced technology like digital information screens and charging points for every seat.
Passenger comfort has also been well thought out, with air conditioning for the summer months and an underfloor heating system for the chillier times of the year.

Electric underfloor heating systems are extremely slimline, which ensure they don’t encroach on available space on trains, allowing for a design that increases passenger capacity. In the same way, they are ideal for smaller rooms in your home, such as WCs and bathrooms, as well as kitchens with low ceilings.
