Property owners living in Rugby, Warwickshire are now being offered new grants to help make their homes warmer and more affordable to run.
Grants are available of up to £18,000, and will be supplied via the Home Upgrade Grants (HUG) of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
The HUG is paid for by the government’s £16 million fund, and is designed to help pay for a variety of energy saving measures for homes. These include energy efficient underfloor heating (UFH), high-quality insulation, heat pumps and solar panels.
The grants will be available to Rugby homeowners whose residences have a total household income lower than £31,000, are connected to mains gas, and have an energy performance certificate rating between D and G.
WMCA chair and Mayor of the West Midlands, Andy Street, commented:
“We’re now able to make grants and expert advice available to homeowners who live in some of the most energy inefficient homes, to bring them up to modern energy efficiency standards.”
He added that improving the region’s home energy efficiency played a key part in lowering energy bills for residents and creating healthier and warmer places for people to live.
Underfloor heating is fast becoming the standard solution for home heating, from warm water-based systems included during builds in new developments, to electric solutions in retrofit housing projects.
