Houses in a Greater Manchester property development designed for energy efficiency and eco-friendliness have now entered the property market.
Situated in the Saddleworth village of Diggle, the homes are primarily aimed at families, with a secondary school sited nearby and eco-electric technology installed to keep the cost of living more affordable.
The development is an eight-acre project from renowned housebuilder Redrow, and won approval in 2023. Dubbed Broadstone Manor, the site boasts 70 houses built using naturally sourced stone. The homes are entirely gas free, and will instead rely on renewable technology to run heating and hot water systems.
Wall-mounted air source heat pumps were selected for the development, supplying off-grid energy that generates zero emissions. Smart technology features and energy-efficient kitchen appliances have also been fitted to boost EPC ratings.
A Redrow spokesperson recently detailed that the development offers a range of three-to-five-bedroom residences, and that all homes on site have high-levels insulation, as well as energy efficient doors and windows well-sealed against heat loss.
The ground floor level of every home at Broadstone Manor also benefits from an underfloor heating system, with installation carried out during the construction phase as part of build plans. While underfloor heating offers superior energy efficiency to benefit the environment and utility bill payers, when coupled with the latest insulation, the potential for effectiveness and savings is even more substantial.
