Renovated Norfolk care home includes innovative UFH

Recently, new owners have taken possession of a nearly completed nursing home project in Gorleston, Norfolk.

Known as the Harbour Quay development, the large building on Riverside Road has stood empty for 15 years, and is finally entering the market as the finishing touches are added.

With all structural work fulfilled, only the interior elements of the care home require final sign off. For example, considerable plumbing works have been performed, but bathroom fittings require completion.

On the ground floor of the developmentā€™s central building, there is a dedicated reception and space for offices. The multi-block property also boasts extensive parking space on the ground floor. Levels one through three contain a total of 54 bedrooms in varying sizes, and another six bedrooms, a kitchen and a communal area up on level fourth. The topmost level also benefits from a hair salon.

The once concrete walled stairwells have now been plastered and fitted with bannisters for support. However, each block of the nursing home will also have a lift service between floors.

To keep staff and residents alike comfortable, an underfloor heating (UFH) system has been installed in every block. All guests of the care home will benefit from bespoke heating settings, with a control fitted within easy reach at waist height in each bedroom.
