Devon cottage enjoys underfloor heated bathrooms

A Grade II listed cottage based in the picturesque village of Otterton in East Devon has recently entered the property market.

Ideal for those seeking seclusion, the three-bedroom home has a private position in the village, but is close to both the seafront and nearby Budleigh Salterton.

With a stunning thatched roof, the cottage is believed to have once served as former threshing barn. Dating to the 1600s, the building was converted for residential use in the late ‘80s, but the sensitive reimagining saw many of the original character features kept.

The dual aspect living room has a feature fireplace with a wood-burning stove nestled within, while the dining room enjoys access to the garden at the rear. A classic and contemporary design has been selected for the kitchen, with multiple integrated appliances and units in the shaker style.

All bedrooms are based on the first floor and boast exposed timber beams. There are also two bathrooms, one ensuite to the master bedroom with a shower, and the other designed for family use with a traditional rolltop bathtub.

Both the larger and smaller bathrooms benefit from radiant floor heating. Underfloor heating is a popular option for bathrooms as it warms up waterproof tiles and makes cleaning easier, as no equipment is on show to collect dust, grime or germs, promoting home hygiene.
